The Costa del Sol Youth Orchestra (CYO) was formed in January 2006 by Ian Green, Director of the Music Academy Espíritu Joven de la Música, with the aim of bringing together children from up and down the coast to experience playing together as a formal orchestra. It currently numbers around 25 children between the ages of 7-17.

Reflecting the aim of making the orchestra experience as enjoyable as possible for the children, the repertoire to date has include pieces such as “The Pink Panther”, the “James Bond” theme, “Batman”, as well as The Beatles and Strauss waltzes.

The CYO currently performs 3 or 4 public concerts a year, to which all are welcome. Concert details are announced in most local newspapers & magazines or can be obtained by contacting CYO’s Administration Office.

Rehearsals are held from 10.00-14.00 every Saturday during term time.

Together with Espíritu Joven de la Música music school, the orchestra is based at Fuerte de Nagüeles which is conveniently situated in a peaceful and semi-rural location next to the beautiful Nagüeles Park, but only a few minutes drive from the centre of Marbella. Membership to the CYO is open to all children and is absolutely free to all participants who have reached Grade 1 level or higher.

To join the orchestra, just come to rehearsals with your instrument! Drum kit & keyboards are available in situ.
